Today on the internet, cyber criminals are always phishing for unsuspecting victims to take the bait. With access to a persons laptop, a hacker can gain knowledge of personal information, credit card information or anything vital stored on someones laptop. Cyber security has become a key aspect of defending these criminals and there are a few ways to defend yourself effectively.

To start, through the use of safe email services like Gmail, you can ensure you emails are safe. Gmail utilizes two-factor authentication which makes all users prove their identity twice rather than once. This second layer of security can make a huge difference if a hacker attempted to gain access to your information.

Some technology to avoid are the devices that record the audio at all times such as Amazon's Alexa or Google Home. These devices that have potential access to devices and information in your home can be just as dangerous as being hacked into by a cell phone or computer.

Finally I would use internet browsers that have safety settings and safe search capabilities, especially if you have kids. When searching the internet if you are not properly protected you may stumble across something that seems like what you're looking for but may be a false advertisement or a phishing attempt.

If you take this advice, I believe that you'll be a much safer browser on the internet and your risk of being a victim of cyber crimes will go down significantly.
